Rapaki MR 875 Sec 1A2B
Rapaki MR 875 Sec 1A2B is a 171.9282 hectare property situated on Governor Bays Road, Rapaki, Lyttelton. The block is located in a very scenic location looking out over Lyttelton Harbour and the sea-side settlement of Rapaki. The block can be accessed from Summit Road and from the Rapaki Settlement.
The block rises very steeply up 2 main gullies from sea level to 450m at Summit Road along the top of the Port Hills. The block is generally south/south east facing but the varied contour with sharp spurs provides a mixed aspect with some shadier and some sunnier faces.
Soils on the property are mostly Takahi-Kiwi yellow grey earths comprising medium fertility silt/fine sandy loams, with a thin strip of Summit yellow brown earths along the top ridge which are medium/low fertility silt loams.
The effective area, approximately 127 hectares, has been utilised for sheep and cattle pastoral farming. The balance of the land can be attributed to the bush, scrub, rocks knobs, bluffs and outcrops on the block.
There are a set of sheepyards, loading race, lead up pen and spray dip on the property. There is also a two stand woolshed on the block. Water is sourced from central stream and tributaries and power is supplied to woolshed.
