Mangawhariki 1H

Mangawhariki 1H is a 70.83 hectare block situated on Tapuaeroa Valley Rd, approximately 21km west of Ruatoria. The block is in the long, narrow sections of medium hill and ranges from rolling hill country climbing to mainly eroded steep hill country at the back.
Mangawhariki 1H and its' five neighbouring blocks are managed as one unit and the block is utilised for cattle grazing. There is limited tracking on the block. Most of the stock work is completed on horseback.
Erosion is a major problem on this block (and the neighbouring blocks). Mangawhariki 1H has been identified by the Waiapu River Restoration Project team as being "A" priority in terms of requiring urgent treatment to mitigate further erosion. Most of the erosion on the block is deep gully head erosion.
