Rowallan Block VII Section 5 (Te Marino Trust) is a 130.3037 hectare property situated in Western Southland, approximately 25 kilometres to the west of the Tuatapere Township. The land is strongly rolling in contour with dry ridges and wet gullies. At its highest point, the block is 238 metres above sea level. The land is adjacent to the Waitutu State Forest. Access to the block is difficult.
The land is covered in virgin forest that is 99% unmodified. The dominant forest type is silver beech (a commercial species) with a lesser amount of mountain beech. There are also very small volumes of rimu, totara and miro present.
