Kaiwaitau 6 (Paikea Cemetery)

Kaiwaitau 6 (Paikea Cemetery) is a 6.649 hectare property located at the junction of Kaiwaitau Road & Ormond Drive about 2km north east of Mahia Beach and known as Te Ara O Paikea. Te Ara O Paikea is the whale-shaped hill on the isthmus of Mahia Peninsula.
The block is light sandy hill covered in pampas, native grasses & scattered trees.
The land of Kaiwaitau 6 is the final resting place of Ihaka Tatu Whaanga along with a number of other people and is considered a sacred Rongomaiwahine site.
