Poukawa 13B
Poukawa 13B is a 522.50 hectare block. The property is situated along State Highway 2, Te Hauke, some 11kms from Hastings. It is on the western side of the railway line that runs parallel to the State Highway.
The block is separated into three individual tenancies which are currently all leased to Brownrigg Agriculture Group Limited. The leased land area is 522.50 hectares of which 323.6 hectares is effective. Some 198.9072 hectares, can be attributed to Lake Poukawa.
Lake Poukawa is the largest lake lying within a peatland in the active tectonic Poukawa depression (or Poukawa Basin), between the Raukawa Range and Kaokaoroa Range of central Hawke's Bay. Its maximum depth is less than one metre after it was artificially drained after the 1931 Hawkes's Bay earthquake. The lake and its eel fishery are of considerable cultural importance to the people of Te Hauke and their hapu Ngai Te Rangikoianake. The lake has been declared a non-commercial fishery since 1996.
Poukawa 13B has its own legal and formed access from SH2 across the railway line at Te Hauke. There is also further formed access from SH2 at the southern end of the property.
The block has sheep yards that are not utilised, an implement shed, hayshed and woolshed located on the property.
